May and June

The game Ethan created

Ward temple trip

Three down and counting -stomach bug- (not all at the same time) and Doug is in Canada!

They are pretending... they were hoping to surprise me!

Spanish extra credit

Biggest walking stick ever!!

Escaped parakeet!

Kid in a box

FHE family fun- putting together patio furniture!

Magic Show at the library- all four boys were enamoured with the show! They ate it up with wide eyed amazement. They also used their money from granny to buy wands that came with a few magic tricks.

Chick-fil-a’s 5th bday. Luke thought it was so cool that chick-fil-a is 5, just like him!

Logan’s fav place to sit at the bar. He’s just so cute!

Naeglin’s - they don’t have the best donuts, but their apple strudel is pretty amazing, and they’re the oldest bakery in Texas, so it’s with an annual trip every summer!

Cheek to cheek and jaw to jaw... they were Sipping Soda Through a Straw (name that song!)

Chuckee Cheese with the Orgil’s. It’s been a looong time. Little kids don’t remember.... but they sure had a fun time... especially Logan!

Body Pump... where I’ve gone every Wed/Fri @ 5:15am. So sad YMCA is closing!

I love how, when Ethan cleans up, he adds his own decorating touch. This time, he added the wind chime he made at the Magic Treehouse Camp, and his stuffed owl. Awww...

Ethan put the train tracks together. Best design yet!

Car wash...

Temple Date

Dog sitting. Mazie. No matter how many times I shooed her away, or pushed her off my bed, she kept coming back for more. Look at her paw, she’s touching me!

New reader. He’s been reading Magic Treehouse for the last couple of months.

Zoo plans

Ethan designed his first zoo
He even has handicapped parking.... we laminated it to preserve it through the ages. (His idea.)

Trek

The return. We got to go up and sing Come Come Ye Saints as the kids rounded the bend back into the valley. It was a spiritually powerful and moving experience. I was tearing up before the kids even got there. The spirit was so strong. Palpable. I thought of how much the pioneers valued and loved the gospel, and how much they were willing to sacrifice for it. I asked my self do I see the value they saw? Do I appreciate it, live it and share it?  The kids saw a small glimpse of what the pioneers sacrificed for the gospel. How powerful. Their journey was hard, and it parallels our life on earth. Hard, now always understanding the why, thinking we can’t go on, helping one another. Such a powerful experience. I’m so grateful Porter went and was part of it.

Ready to head our

Celebration dinner after the pick up

Concert in the Park

Such a fun place! Free concerts in the summer. This time they brought in fun things for the kids. I don’t know if I’ll be taking kids back again this summer. Logan left twice. He knew where he was, looking for something back at our chairs, but it gave me a heart attack... twice!! Too scary.

Twinkie Cake ... take 1

I am determined to figure out how to recreate my grandma’s Twinkie cake! When she was alive, you knew you were special if Grandma made you a Twinkie cake. My actual first attempt was 20 years ago, I am a much better baker now, and I stumbled upon a recipe that is similar to hers but with more directions. I thought for sure I was going to get it right this time! Unfortunately I didn’t let my layers cool enough, at least I think that’s the problem. It tasted amazing, even though it fell apart. I’m sure my family still felt special. But I will try again for sure! Next time I will make sure we have someone over to help us eat it too... we have had cake coming out of our ears!

Car Repairs

Doug and Porter spent the day on Saturday fixing the brakes on Porter’s car. It was a great day for both of them.
