kinect

Don't know why the only pics of Vaughn's kinect are of me, because I probably spent the least amount of time on it, but it was very fun... very tempting to pick one up for us... It was great to see Vaughn, and see his new house.  He's doing so well!  He really spent a lot of time visiting us. He came to Sandy three different times, just to spend more time with us and the kids.  Thanks Vaughn!

The Jacksons-New Years Eve

Our trip also gave us the opportunity to see some of our best friends!  I was able to spend one evening shopping and having dinner with Jenni.  It was great to see her again!

Another friend highlight was spending the weekend with our close friends the Jacksons.  They drove seven hours to see us. We felt so loved!  We spent Saturday, New Years Eve, going to Temple Square, the Church Family History Museum and the Lion House.  We stopped by Vaughn's house, and then headed to their hotel for swimming and pizza.  Our kids get along so well, as do the adults, we had a great time catching up!  Sunday we went to church, had dinner together, played games, and caught up some more.  What a blessing it is to have such close friends!

Going to Grandma and Grandpa's

We spent half our time in Logan and the other half in Sandy.  We went to a jr. hockey game, nickelcade. the Movie, Puss in Boots, dinner at a slc original, The Training Table, spent lots of time with Doug's sister, had a family Christmas party.  It just added to our Christmas fun!

skiing

We skiied twice in Utah.  Once at Beaver and all day at Brighton.  The kids picked it right up, it was amazing!  Porter wanted to snowboard, but after ten minutes on his board, and not even being able to make it to the bunny hill, he told me he'd like to try skiing instead.  Done! I didn't try to change his mind.  I don't know who to help him on a snowboard.  The ski shop tried to charge me the change fee, and I actually would have happily paid it, just to have Porter in skis.  But I incredulously explained that we'd only been gone ten minutes, and hadn't even done one run.  They let us trade with out a charge.  Porter picked up skiing the first time down. It was awesome, he was ready for the chair lift!  I was getting a little frustrated trying to help Sophie, so I went and skiied with Porter, and Doug took Sophie.  When we came back, she could ski, I don't know what kind of magic he worked with her, but it was pretty amazing.  It was so fun to enjoy our big kids with such a big kid type outing.  When we went to Brighton we literally skiied all day, and they would have kept on going at the end, but our turn was over.  Sophie was elated to go fast by the end of the day.  At one point I had to ski pretty hard to catch up to her, she just giggled and said that Daddy had taught her how to stop, so now she could go fast.  She also did the full on splits.  And just laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world exclaiming, "I can't wait to tell my teacher that I did the splits on skies!" She also got run over by a little snowboarder, luckily neither one was going fast, so it was more funny than frightful. I surprised myself by having a nice time too. It was fun to ski at my kid's pace, it was very non-threatening, and I didn't get as cold as I thought I might, so that made the day much more enjoyable too!
