Utah Trip

Sophia and I decided to roll 3 purposes into one in a Utah trip at the beginning of December. One our flight out we met two girls from our stake. One reporting the MTC, and another one returning back from a visit to her family. We took pics and sent them to their moms.

College visits! Utah State- Sophie loved Utah State. The town is beautiful, the campus is beautiful, they have a lot of great programs and activities. Grandma Barbara joined us.

Granny's Nativity Show. My mom worked so hard to put her Navivity Show together. It was an impressive sight to see all of those nativites in one room. She stayed up two nights in a row to get it ready to go. Pam and Savannah stayed up one of those nights with her. In one hour we counted 450 people. She touched a lot of hearts. Women came to us in tears thanking her for her work. My friend from Kingwood had a friend from Indiana who was visiting her son in Logan. This friend from Indiana posted on Facebook about my mom's nativity and how much it touched her. Katy saw the post and sent it on to me. My mom's purpose was achieved. I'm glad I got to support her.

Barb and I picked up Porter from the airport in the middle of the night. The next morning I took Sophie to BYU- Provo ... Sophie wasn't super impressed with BYU-Provo, until she got to the nursing program. It was impressive. It's set up like a real hopsital. The students are required to do a study abroad (Sophie's dream). It's a very competative program, admitting only 40% of their applicants. Then we met up with Porter and toured David Technical College. It was an impressive program too. It was light and bright. The professor is very invested in his students. They offer job placement and scholarships. The program can be completed in 10 months. We also discovered Waffle Love and ate their twice (once wasn't enough!) We ate there in SLC and in Ogden.

Sophie's Christmas present for Savannah

BYU-Idaho ... Sophie said she could feel the spirit at the Rexburg campus, but was underwhelmed by the town itself.

We spent the night in Idaho Falls with Jenni. It's always so good to see her! We just picked up where we left off. We talked all night. We went out for pizza and ate Kneader's cheesecake. She sent us home with amazing Minkie Couture Blankets.

Then we were off to Boise (yes we were in a different bed every night). We couldn't wait to go watch Eva dance as Clara in the Nutcracker at Ballet Idaho. I always said when she got the part of Clara I was going to come see it, and I'm so glad I was able to keep my promise!

We stayed the last night with Adam, and delighted in seeing Livy. Sophie put hair tinsel in her hair and we played lots of War with her Frozen cards. She's a doll.

Our last morning we met Pamilla for an early lunch at Cafe Rio. We talked for 3 hours, and the time flew by. We sure love her!

Last stop, Grandma Barbara and Grampa Jack. We had to get a picture by the wreath on their front door. Sophie made that for them in 3rd grade! They graciously allowed us to drive their car all over the Utah and Idaho, and we were so grateful.
