Sonic
One of Logan's birthday requests was a $10 sonic gift card. He got his wish. Then he wanted to use that gift card to take us all out for ice cream to sonic. And he wanted to go after his baseball game... so we all went to his late night baseball game (started at 7:30) watched him play, and then went to Sonic to enjoy some delicious ice cream. The soft serve ice cream machine was broken from the cold weather, so we had milkshakes instead (the worker gave them to Logan for the same price). He was so proud of himself, using his gift card to pay for us all. It was darling... he's darling...
On the way to sonic, we passed by a terrible accident on the freeway. A car had rolled off multiple times, and we saw the body on a stretcher covered near the ambulance, obviously the driver didn't make it. Tender hearted Sophia asked if we could pray for the family right then and there. So we did. Love it when our kids teach us something... Logan in generosity and Sophia in thinking of others through prayer.

SNOVID
We heard cold weather was coming, but we had no idea what that would entail! I didn't even do any panic last minute emegency shopping. Luckily, we were well stocked up. Doug ran out and filled our cars and gas cans with gas. Thankfully. The temperatures dropped, we lost power for 36 hours, and then intermittent power outages for the next couple of days. We'd have power for an hour, then loose it for 3 or 4 hours. I heard the stores were stripped of food. The roads were impassable for a couple of days because of the ice. We found out the generator we purchased 10 years ago, but had yet to use still worked. It had been moved so many times Doug had to do a couple of repairs. But with Jack's help, Doug was able to hook it up to the main, and fire up the furnace. It was cold inside, I still wore my coat that first day, but it was very bearable. And we were able to plug our fridge in so we didn't loose any food. Such an adventure! School was cancelled all week. There was an 11 year old boy in our school district who passed away and they're claiming it was due to the cold. So crazy! Then, when things started warming up people's pipes were breaking and causing a lot of damage. In a hurricane you worry about the heat and the water coming from the outside, in the ice storm, you worried about the cold and the water coming from the inside. There were lots of funny memes about how Presiden't Day break was starting to feel a lot like last year's spring break, when the kids never went back to school... Then the next week we hit the 70's ... more meme's about how TX was acting like it didn't try to kill us last week. We just felt grateful that we felt prepared. With the generator, our water jugs and food storage, it gave weight to the idea if ye are prepared ye need not fear.

Cake
For Valentine's Day Sophia wanted to make a chocolate cake for one of the recently widow's in the ward. A man bore his testimony recently and she identified him as the lucky recipient of her good will. Her cake turned out perfect and the man was so touched.
Sunday Talk
Sophia gave a talk in church and invited her swim coach, Coach Borwell to come listen, and she came! She is such a good example. She has has several religious discussion with her coach.

Logan's 6th Birthday
Logan has been excited to turn 6 since before he was 5. He insisted on putting a 6 candle on his 5th birthday cake. Imagine my surprise when Logan cried himself to sleep because he was so sad to turn 6. When I asked him why he said it was because we went on so many fun trips when he was 5 and we wouldn't be able to do those again when he's 5, because he won't be 5 anymore. He's so cute! I assured him we would do fun things when he's 6.
We were going to go to the Aquarium for Logan's birthday, but due to the weather forecast, we opted for an indoor activity. Logan knew exactly what indoor birthday celebration he wanted... URBAN AIR!!! The Urban Air in the Woodland's had a lot of fun things that the one in New Braunfels didn't have, like a climbing wall and bumper cars. We spent 5 hours there! Then we went to dinner, Logan chose Cici's. It was crazy cold, we could see our breath in the restaurant! Logan wanted a credit card for his birthday, so he got a $50 visa card and a $10 sonic card, also requested by him. We ate Funfetti Birthday cake, decorated with sprinkles and we had blue birthday cake ice cream. Grandma's presents were delayed and then took even longer because of the storm, so Logan's birthday just kept going. She sent him a boomarang and jump ropes. He's been learning jump roping in PE, so he was so excited to be able to practice at home. He is getting noticably better!
Logan requested crepes for breakfast with whipped cream and strawberries

Baby Bunnies
Ethan joined 4-H in the hopes of showing baby bunnies at the county fair in April. He's been taking care of 3 bunnies since October. We bred the bunnies at the beginning of January. And they gave birth around the beginning of February. One mama didn't have any babies, the other one had 8! It was so exciting, until the next morning, and they all died during the night. It got really cold, and we can only assume they were too cold to make it. It was tragic. Ethan and Logan were pretty devestated... So after being so excited to have babies, we buried all of them the next night on our lot. Ethan and Logan cried all the way home and they cried themselves to sleep at night too. A lesson of the circle of life, and remembering the hope God's plan gives all of us.
